What gear do I need to get started?

Most gear can be obtained from PlayitAgain sports used and will work just fine. New gear can be found at Pure Hockey. Lyons players also have extra gear and are willing to lend it out. The staff at both PlayitAgain and Pure Hockey will be able to help you make sure things fit correctly.

You’ll need:

• Skates (Can be rented at the rink)
• Helmet
• Ice Hockey Pants
• Chest Protector
• Elbow Pads
• Shin Guards
• Hockey Socks
• Jill (essentially a cup but also helps keep your socks up)
• Stick
• Gear bag

What is the cost to drop in?

The first practice is free. Drop in fee for practice is $25. Players that know they’re going to attend most or all practices can pay in advance for a discounted price. The cost of games and WCHL participation will vary.

When are where are practices?

The Lyons practice at Brentwood Ice Rink on Sunday from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM.

What is the WCHL team and the House team?

Both the WCHL and Lyon’s House team practice together on Sundays. The house team is for new players that are still learning the game or those of us that want to just have fun and not play competitively.

Lyon’s WCHL (Women’s Central Hockey League) team competes in division 3. The WCHL team has a limited number of roster spots. A form will be sent out before the start of the WCHL season to see who is interested in playing and our Coach will make a final decision on the roster based on skill level and participation. WCHL players will have a different financial commitment than the House team players.

Is the team trans and nb inclusive?

Yes! There are trans and nb players on both the house and WCHL teams. Hockey is for everyone. We’d love to have you!
